Cross-Cultural Perspectives on Germany and the U.S.

gabaJoin GABA, the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, and University of California, Irvine (UCI) on February 22 at 6 p.m. for an insightful and interactive discussion on the distinctive mentalities in the U.S. and Germany, and how to adjust and successfully navigate through cultural differences in bilateral relations, business, education and everyday life.

Keynote speaker Consul General Hans Joerg Neumann will describe the German-American relations in general and the future cooperation with the new U.S. administration. Consul Neumann will further talk about Germany’s role within the European Union in difficult economic and political times.

Dr. Schuh, Managing Director of Real Difference Management Consulting, will give an introduction to cultural dimensions and the impact cultural differences have on diverse, international teams and organizations. He will not only talk about global projects, but also draw from his own experience starting the US operations of a German company in the US.

Dr. Pan, the Chair of the Department of European Language & Studies at UCI, will provide an overview of the several programs that UCI offers to students interested in studying and working in Germany as well as information about different career possibilities for students with foreign languages degrees. In addition, he will recount some of his own experiences studying and working in Germany.
