The first KETTLER USA North American office and distribution center opened in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 1981. Since that time, the company has expanded its line of products to include a wide range of table tennis and fitness equipment, children’s toys, bicycles and leisure furniture.
KETTLER USA originated in Germany in 1949. The family-owned company still manufactures in Germany. Ludger Busche began working for the company in Germany in 1975 and came to the United States in 1981 as part of the original KETTLER USA expansion team. He is now Senior Vice President of KETTLER USA, and recently reflected on how things have changed for the company in the past 30 years.
“Our general core principles and values have not changed, but everything around us has changed; trends, e-mail, the Internet, e-tailing,” said Busche. “We have adjusted to the ever-changing market.”
Since KETTLER USA was first founded, the company has grown in size and carries more products than ever. It has expanded from the US to Canada, Mexico and Central America. In the mid-1990s, KETTLER built a retail store in Virginia Beach, and in the mid-2000s completed an expansion that more than doubled its office and warehouse distribution space in Virginia Beach. The company continues to grow.
